The RS:X European Champions Lilian de Geus, Kiran Badloe and Fabien Pianazza will compete at the Medemblik Regatta in May. Badloe's biggest rival and training partner, Dorian van Rijsselberge, came in second at the Europeans. He has also registered for the Regatta in Medemblik. It's going be a tough competition for the rest of the fleet.

Last year we already noticed the strong Pianazza, he put down a solid week where he won almost every race. When we asked him if he's coming to Medemblik again this year, he reacted positive. "For sure I'll be present for the Medemblik Regatta." With the win last year and the European Championship in his pocket, he is definitely one to watch.

European Champion RS:X Women

The Dutch de Geus is really happy with her European title. After she won the World Championship in Aarhus last summer, she took a long break from windsurfing. At the World Cup in Miami last February, she couldn't perform at her best. After that, she went to New Zealand for a long training period. "Now I'm back, this really gives me confidence." She's going to bring that confidence to Medemblik in May.

Dutch podium at RS:X Men

For the RS:X Men it's going to be a tough battle against the Dutch Badloe and van Rijsselberge. "They challenge each other to be the best", said their coach Aaron McIntosh after the European Championship. "It's special to see them working together and see them grow from this. It's poetry in motion." Both surfers are maybe even more proud of each others accomplishment at the Europeans. European Champion Badloe: "I'm very satisfied with this week, and happy to stand on the podium with Dor (red: Dorian van Rijsselberge)." Van Rijsselberge: "It's a nice surprise to come in second here. And I'm super proud of Kir (red: Kiran Badloe) his championship."

Windfoil surfing

With the European Championship now finished, we expect more RS:X surfers to register for the Medemblik Regatta. And many of them will probably also join the Windfoil surfing competition. These races are scheduled after the RS:X races, this way the surfers in this class can also enter in the foil class.
