On Sunday 6th October, nine boats got onto the water for the annual Autumn Trophy. Sailing conditions were challenging with an onshore westerly force 5 wind, white horses on the crest of waves and a large swell before the tide turned.
Boats took part in three separate 45 minute races, with 2 races to count.
Well done to Jon Summers and his son Diggs for making it onto the water but unfortunately they capsized at the start of the first race. The strong wind made it difficult to get going again and they retired.
Late starters in the 505 were Paul Heild and Seamus Ryan, who after some technical issues managed to complete the second two races.
Four laser radials battled against each other in the first two races but Amy Turner and Rachel Elliot in a Feva doggedly managed to complete all 3 races.
The main battle of the day was between the visiting Fireballs from Portishead, who were in their element with their spinnakers flying for much of the course. In the end twins Anthony and James Wilcox pipped their parents to first position, with Martin Gibson in a Laser coming a close third.
