Clevedon Sailing Club's annual long distance channel race took place with the promise of strong winds that never really materialised: a race of luck or skill.
Leaving Clevedon with an incoming tide each crew had to estimate the time it takes to get to Denny Island by the Prince of Wales bridge, round it at slack tide and return with the outgoing tide.
Seven boats entered - a mixture of single- and double-handed crews. The Laser of Robin Goff came first, Benedict Whybrow and Evie Newell in a Taser were second, and clutching third from the jaws of defeat was Trevor Baker in a Laser.
