Gul RS200 Nationals at Exe Sailing Club - Overall

After a murky start to the final day of the GUL RS200 National Championship, Exmouth decided to show itself at its best, by greeting the 129 boat fleet with brilliant sunshine and a shifty 17 knots.

At the end of Day 4 there were 2 points in it between Roger Gilbert/Katrina Gilbert and Geoff Carveth and Fiona Clark . So the fight was on!

Roger and Katrina went out and decided to try and demolish the whole fleet. In race one Lee Sydenham and Jane Willan gave them a run for their money and took first with Roger and Katrina in second. Geoff Carveth and Fiona Clark, attempted to gain the upper hand with pre-start manoeuvres, but had to settle for third, still leaving them with a fighting chance in the final race.

Race 10, with the pressure still on Roger Gilbert and Katrina Gilbert showed their ability to stay calm under pressure and finished off their impressive performance by leading the final race from start to finish, giving Geoff Carveth no opportunity, therefore securing the title of GUL RS200 National Champion.

With Geoff Carveth and Fiona Clark in second, a battle ensued for third and fourth with Tom and J Hewitson and gaining the upper hand over Nick Charles and Juliet Kingsnorth to get fourth.

It was now time for the partying to begin.
