Fancy a long tricky race in beautiful surroundings? Then South Windermere Sailing Club has just the race for you.
Sunday 27 August is the annual Belle Isle Race, open to all monohull dinghies and keelboats with a PY from 900 to 1150.
It starts from SWSC base at the YMCA north camp on the west side of the south lake, and will take in the full length of the south lake.
Going up passed the chain Ferry, through Bowness Bay, round Belle Isle and then back again.
Many a good lead has been lost going round the back of Belle Isle. It gradually narrows, and has lots of moored boats. It's a bit like racing on the rivers of the Norfolk Broads, but with a 250ft hill to one side, and overhanging trees on the other!
Come up to Cumbria and have a real challenge.
Start is 11am, with a post race social getting going as soon as everyone has returned.
