Turkey, Great Britain, Germany and Spain set for the second Greenwich Women's Cup

Marina Greenwich hosts this weekend, 8th and 9th March, the second edition of the international women's sailing regatta, with the ten best crews competing against each other in a fleet of six boats.

The Club Náutico Marina Greenwich hosts the second round of the Greenwich Women's Cup. It does so this weekend, 8 and 9 March, with the ten best crews from Turkey (1), England (1), Germany (1) and Spain (7). A regatta that aims to grow and position itself as an outstanding event in the international calendar, within this type of regatta, in fleet racing, refereed on the water.

Unlike the 2024 edition, this time there will be two days of sailing. On Saturday, the round robin is expected to close the round robin, all against all, leaving for Sunday the repechage in which those classified from fifth to tenth place will compete, with an established programme of two races. The two best in this regatta will go directly to the final, with the title being decided by the best of three, plus the points obtained in the round robin classification.

Spain has seven crews, with the RCN Calpe defending the title with Sarah Moreau. The Calpe club is present with another team, led by Inés Álvarez. Alongside them will be representatives of the RCN de Madrid, with Ana Yun; RCMT Punta Umbría, led by Aurora Pascual; RCM del Abra - Real Sporting with Lourdes Bilbao; RCR Cartagena, with Silvia Abella and RCN Torrevieja, with Aurora Pascual. Internationally, Turkey is represented by Istanbul SC, led by Ruhigül Çelikel, Germany with Hamburger Segel-Club E.V. with Anna Rupp and England with Royal Thames YC London with Ella Brown.

The start of the competition has been set for 11.00 a.m. on both days, although it may be modified due to weather conditions. The forecast is for good wind conditions on Saturday, with slight changes on Sunday.
