7-9 March 2025
After the lack of wind that characterised Friday's opening day, today Aeolus finally smiled on the participants and organisers of Cilento a Vela's 1st National OpenSkiff and RS Aero Regatta.
- The wind arrives at Marina di Camerota: full programme on the second day for the 1st National Open Skiff and RS Aero regatta
- Gabriele Lizzulli and Svyatoslav Yasnolabov lead the two OpenSKiff under-13 and under-17 categories
- In the RS Aero 5 Youths, Mattia Monti from Rimini leads the way
The wind, with gusts of up to 9 knots, allowed four regattas to be held for the OpenSkiff class, divided into the Under 13 and Under 17 categories, and three regattas for the RS Aero class. The event, which attracted almost 130 athletes from all over Italy, from Lake Garda to Sardinia, passing through the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian seas, coloured the coast of Marina di Camerota, which was filled with sails. There were numerous clubs and racers at their first experience in a national competition, testifying to the growing popularity of these sailing classes, which prioritise fun and the sharing of friendships and passion for sailing.
Saturday highlighted the high competitive level of the young sailors, with hard-fought regattas until the last mark. As far as the OpenSkiff class is concerned, which with the fourth race had the inclusion of the discard of the worst race, the provisional ranking sees in the under-13 category the Tuscan Gabriele Lizzulli (CNV Argentario, 1-1-3-3) and Davide De Felice (CN Posillipo, 2-2-1-2) from Campania tied in the score; third Giuseppe Saracino from Circolo Velico Ondabuena of Taranto improved as the wind picked up (4-3-2-1). Fourth place overall and first among the girls was Bianca Gorgerino from Cagliari (LNI cagliari, 6-4-4). A more defined first position instead among the under-13s with the Italian-Ukrainian Svyatoslav Yasnolabov (Club Nautico Rimini, 1-3-1-2), 4 points ahead of Giovanni Faggioli (LNI Cagliari, 3-1-4-4); third place for Manuel Albanese from Taranto (CV Azimuth, 20-5-2-6). Just one point behind Mattia Pau (LNI Cagliari, 7-12-6-1) and fifth place, first girl, Maria Elena Barbarino from Campania (CN Posillipo, 13-4-5-5).
The RS Aero 5 class, youth category saw Mattia Monti (CN Rimini, 1-4-1-6) from Rimini in the lead; first of the girls in the same category and Monti's teammate, Vittoria Cartelli, third overall. Among the RS aero 6s in the lead is the youth Leonardo Nonnis (LNI Cagliari). Roy Van Maanes is instead leading among the masters.
Sunday, last day of the event.
