On Wednesday 4th September East Antrim Boat Club, by Larne Lough, will re-open their acclaimed Mid-Week Sessions - a programme of nautical themed talks, presentations and other stuff - with professional sailor Michael Ferguson taking the stage.
Michael will be co-skippering the IMOCA 60, Ariel2 (formally Dee Caffria's Aviva) on the Transat Jacques Vabre. The 67-boat-fleet will depart Le Harve on the 27th October on the 5000nm 'dash' to Bahia, Brazil.
Commenting on the re-opening of the MID-WEEK SESSIONS principal organiser Thomas Jobling said. "Having Michael take time out from his hectic schedule is a real bonus for us. A sensational opening act! Following the delivery of what promises to be a fascinating presentation, he's off on a morning flight, en route Finland, to pick up and sail Ariel2 to the French port." EABC Commodore Steven Kirby commented, "Mid-week's successful format remains unchanged, and of course we at EABC welcome visitors from our neighbouring clubs." He continued; "This really is an opening night, not to be missed. It starts at 7:30pm"
Michael Ferguson is no stranger to the magnificent world of IMOCA 60s - he's clocked up some 30,000nm racing globally; for example, he's been with Mike Golding and has skippered Artemis 2 for the past five seasons and has been working on this current project for some two years.
