Going forward into 2024 East Antrim Boat Club, located on the shores of Larne Lough, has a new Commodore at the helm.
Chris Dorman (38) is a man of many talents having for example demonstrated his leadership qualities by serving on an array of committee roles. He takes over the helm from the long serving Lucy Whitford. She has now moved to Rear Commodore.
Chris Dorman has been member of EABC since boy hood. He is also a long serving RNLI coxswain with the neighbouring lifeboat station. As well as a busy Larne business man he and his father Allan - a former EABC Commodore - have a 'traditional hardware shop' in the town. They couple this with a bulk services towards the heavy-side needs of the argri and local construction industries.
Chris commented; "Having come through an extremely busy festive season, the various sub committees are now working hard preparing our club to receive early season from a number of class associations. I'm delighted to be welcoming the Topper [16/17 March] and Oppi families [11/12 May] back to the Lough." He continued, "I'm especially thrilled that we'll be witnessing the first ever visit to EABC of the RS regatta fleet [4/5May] RS400, RS200 and the RS Fevers. Yeah, a busy early season ahead for me... can't wait!"
