Sailors took to the water today for the annual Martin Dugdale Memorial Race, a heartfelt tribute to a beloved member of the Snowflake Sailing Club. Martin Dugdale was a key figure in the club's history, dedicating his time and passion to keeping it thriving.

His legacy was well represented, with many members of the Dugdale family either competing in the race or helping to run the event. Despite the cold weather, sailors were met with a medium breeze and occasional bursts of sunshine - ideal conditions for an exciting race.

A strong fleet of 35 boats - comprising 19 assorted dinghies and 16 keelboats - battled it out in a handicapped allcomers race that lasted well over an hour.

After a fiercely competitive event, Chris Bunn claimed first place in a Solo, followed closely by Matthew Frary, also in a Solo. In third place were James Dugdale (Martin Dugdale's nephew) and Richie Dugdale (Martin's son) in a Yeoman.

The race delivered thrilling moments, close finishes, and a fantastic turnout, making it a fitting tribute to a man who meant so much to the club.

As the sails came down and competitors reflected on the day's events, it was clear that Martin Dugdale's spirit remains very much alive within the Snowflake Sailing Club.
