20 entrants from 9 clubs lined up for the start of the 5 race series. OOD Trevor Jefferson delayed the start of race 1 several times as the wind swung round and eventually settled with a gentle force 1 from the South West. Ian Craven and Steve Wilson's Hobie 16 opened a dramatic lead on the first beat but missed the windward mark letting Mark Fearnley and Chris Spicer's 59er take over the pace with the RS400s of Richard Marsh / Heather Nocton and Paul / Michael Allen in close contention. Mike Saul and Sophie Hartley in the RS200 hung on to the tails of the RS400s to take the race on handicap with the 59er second.

A significant change in wind direction during race 2 turned the beat into a fetch and the run into a broad reach, which favoured Geoff Stubbs in the RS700 with Fearnley / Spicer taking another second, Ian Escritt's Vortex third and Andrew Foulds / Oliver Dewhurst fourth in the 29er. Fearnley / Spicer were clear leaders after two races, but with three more back to back races after lunch and the wind increasing anything could happen.

Race three started in a pleasant force 3 with sunshine, ideal conditions for the asymmetric boats and was won by Saul / Hartley with Keith Escritt / Anne Saul second in another RS200 and Ian Escritt notching up another third.

Race 4 in similar conditions saw the same bunch at the top of the pack, Saul winning from Ian Escritt with Keith in third. The wind increased just enough for Ian Escritt's Vortex to win race 5 with Saul / Hartley's RS200 second, Marsh / Nocton's RS400 third and Fearnley / Spicer's 59er returning to form in fourth.

Saul / Hartley's consistency won them the event, with Ian Escritt second and Keith Escritt / Anne Saul third. Fearnley / Spicer's 9'th in race 4 dropped them to third overall and Marsh / Nocton were disappointed they didn't return to restart after being OCS in race 2. A very enjoyable format with close racing throughout the fleet and a good mix of boats in the prizes.
