Another great day at the Yorkshire Dales SC! While much of the country suffered very light winds, Grimwith reservoir again came up with the goods as the sun shone and the wind increased from a force 1 up to a Force 3 by the end of the day giving something for everyone.

In these conditions it is consistency that pays, and the RS400 sailed by Richard Marsh and Heather Nocton (Elton SC) won overall with a first a second and a fourth. Jonathan Lister (Yorkshire Dales) in a Vortex also won a race to come second overall. It was only Richard and Heathers narrow last race win that gave them victory over Lister.

The other race winners were Keith Escritt and Anne Saul (Yorkshire Dales) in an RS200 who were first of the slow Handicap fleet. Other good performances came from Rob Patterson from Ripon in his Phantom, taking second in the slow handicap and Ian Dobson / Andrew Tunnicliffe from Burwain who guided their 420 just pipping Tony Wild from Bolton in his Supernova into third in the slow fleet . Clive Harries was third of the fast handicappers with Andrew Foulds and Oliver Dewhirsts RS800 leading a bunch of fast handicappers before John Goodyears’ Streaker from YeadonSC who was fifth in the slow fleet.

The superb prizes courtesy of Mike Saul DS were gratefully received in the afternoon sun as many visitors made a booking to come back to YDSC for The Equaliser event on the 11th July. More details of that are on www.grimwith.org
