Boite & Toupe lead in the 505s
Lake Garda was very calm, and the Ora wind blowed steady at (4-5 m/s) in the opening day of the Riva Cup.
Yesterday afternoon 105 boats were on the start line; 48 teams in the 505 class, 23 in the Korsar, 19 in the Dyas class and 15 in the International 14s.
Three races were held. At the end of day one the French team of Boite & Toupe are leading the 505 rankings, even if they didn't win a single race. Their second, fourth and fifth place were enough to take the overall lead. Today they will have to look very cautiously at GER 8875 (Findel & Tellen), who had a bad opening race yesterday finishing 18th position, but then won twice and now are six in overall, with great chances of recovery.
The situation is more defined in the other classes; the Dyas ranking is lead by the German team of Holger & Franz who won all three races yesterday, while GBR 1500 (Pattison & Massey) are at the top in the International 14 class (they won all three races too).
GER 3772 (Braun & Kruck) is in first place in Korsar, thanks to two victories and a fifth place.
This afternoon, in wonderful sunny conditions, the regatta will continue with three more races.
