Little Britain Challenge Cup presents £127k to charities

The Little Britain Challenge Cup, the largest annual property and construction yachting regatta in Europe, took to the main stage on Friday 30 November at the Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show to present cheques worth £127,000 to its nominated charities and representatives;
- The Ellen MacArthur Trust (EMT), represented by charity Patron Olympic Gold Medallist Shirley Robertson
- Cirdan Sailing Trust (CST), represented by Olympic Gold Medallist Shirley Robertson and CST Chief Executive Nick Back
- Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), represented by Olympic Gold Medallist Sarah Webb (JST Vice Patron)
- Skandia Team GBR Paralympic Sailing Team, represented by Jackie Gay (SKUD-18), Hannah Stodel (Sonar) and Helena Lucas (2.4mR)
2007 has been a record-breaking year for Little Britain. The September regatta raised in excess of £150,000* and welcomed 47 new companies, taking the total number of attendees to over 3,000.
Speaking of Friday’s event, the 2008 Little Britain Chairman Sarah Ashworth says:
“It takes enormous effort to make Little Britain the success so it is very rewarding to see the results of our efforts improve the lives of many young, disadvantaged and disabled people. We hope our 21st anniversary event in 2008 will be our most successful yet.”
