Make a date for the 2008 Little Britain Challenge Cup for what promises to be the most spectacular occasion since the event’s inception. This year, to celebrate its 21st anniversary, the largest annual property and construction yachting regatta in Europe will be more action-packed than ever before!
Racing Programme
After considerable consultation, the number of races at the 2008 Little Britain Challenge Cup has been increased from four to five, meaning the long Saturday race of the past will become two shorter races. Additionally, a new class is being introduced this year for J/109s which will replace the Sigma 38.
Entertainment
As well as increasing the number of races at this year’s event, the entertainment schedule is bursting with action, featuring a fantastic range of acts throughout the four day event to complement the distinct themes of each evening;
- Thursday 11th September – Reunion Party featuring the highly-charged Bogus Brothers, a powerhouse five-piece band with an impressive portfolio of high-profile clients
- Friday 12th September – 21st Century Space Odyssey Theme Night – dress up if you dare! Mock-heroic sci-fi tunes from Warriors from Zaigon, a lunar landscape littered with outlandish aliens, Space Boogie disco beats and an explosive contemporary circus show make this a spectacular out of space experience
- Saturday 13th September – Black Tie Celebration Ball – get your glad rags on and drink in the Battle of Britain air display, live jazz, our sharp-witted celebrity comedian and the pulsating energy of the 12 piece soul ensemble Diva
Speaking of the charity’s 21st anniversary event, Chairman Sarah Ashworth says:
“It’s incredible to think that Little Britain started 20 years ago with just three boats and has now become an annual event that attracts over 3,000 people. Reaching our 21st anniversary is a huge achievement and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by creating the most spectacular event yet!
“Since its inception, Little Britain has raised hundreds and thousands of pounds, with 2007 our most successful fundraising year yet, raising over £160,000. We hope that 2008 will exceed all previous years’ fundraising achievements for our fantastic range of nominated charities.”
