Little Britain Challenge Cup 2013 at Cowes in September

by Jane Faust 21 Feb 2013 19:51 GMT 12-15 September 2013

The 2013 Little Britain Challenge Cup www.littlebritain.co.uk, the biggest European sailing regatta for the property and construction industry, has trimmed its entry prices so that individuals can take part for as little as £55 per day. Taking place from Thursday 12 until Sunday 15 September, crews and companies can now take advantage of a straightforward one-price entry, split into three boat size groups, which will include regatta entry, racing, berthing and wristbands, which give access to all the marina facilities and social events.

Tony Poole from Sheppard Robson, Little Britain Committee Chairman comments, "We are fully aware that a considerable number of our loyal supporters are still battling through the recession, and budgets for team building, client liaison and general company entertaining have been drastically reduced. Many have expressed the wish to make the LBCC a simpler more affordable event, so that more people from the industry can take part. We are hoping this new streamlined great value entry package will put the Little Britain firmly back in our supporters' budgets."

As an added attraction this year, all competitors will be able to test their skills by taking on the Paralympic Skandia Team GBR, one of the regular benefactors from funds raised at Little Britain, who are delighted to be returning to the event after their triumphant 2012 medal winning racing at the Olympic Sailing Village.

The Little Britain Challenge Cup, which is organised by the Royal Yacht Squadron, and raises money for nine sailing related charities, will take place in the Solent, offering three days of racing, under the stewardship of LBCC Race Director, Steve Canadine, UK MD of Ramboll, who says, "This is the perfect regatta for a wide range of sailing abilities, with the added plus of a fantastic after racing timetable, where each night, the crews and their guests are entertained with pontoon parties, dinner and live entertainment, which runs through until the early hours.
