The 2009 Little Britain Challenge Cup (LBBC) sets sail for the 22nd consecutive year on Thursday 10th September for three days of adrenalin-fuelled racing.
Since the event’s inception in 1988, Europe’s largest annual construction industry regatta has raised over £1m for sailing charities to help disadvantaged or disabled people to experience the world of sailing. This track record of fundraising looks set to continue as nearly 130 registered companies descend on Cowes Yacht Haven this Thursday.
With a three day programme that includes five races and an action-packed schedule of live entertainment, the Little Britain Challenge Cup continues to attract newcomers, in addition to the regulars that have been taking part since the event began in 1988.
Speaking of this year’s regatta, LBCC Chairman Sarah Ashworth says:
“Given the incredibly challenging conditions faced by the construction industry this year, it makes me enormously proud that so many companies have continued to support the event - and that we’ve even managed to secure some newcomers!
“It’s testament to the industry’s loyalty and commitment that we are able to continue this first class yachting and fundraising event in 2009 and I would like to say a huge thank you to all our sponsors and entrants who have made our 22nd Challenge Cup a reality.”
