Oz Privateer, skippered by Stuart Smith and sailed by a crew from the Army Sailing Association, sealed their victory in the Prima 38 Inshore Series with a commanding win from six other Prima 38s and the rest of the IRC1 fleet in the Hamble Winter Series race on Sunday 17th October. This win completed a clean sweep for the Army in the Hamble River Sailing Club Autumn Championship event, which saw Oz Privateer win from Tom Hayhoe and Natalie Jobling's Mostly Harmless.
The Army were sailing Don Kennedy's Oz Privateer rather than their own Prima 38, Longbow, having previously chartered her to win the class championship in Cork Week while Longbow was under repair following major damage earlier in the season. Although Longbow was back on winning form by Cowes Week, to win the class inshore series they needed to sail Oz Privateer again to benefit from the points won at Cork Week, as well as points earned earlier in the season with Don Kennedy at the helm.
