A brand new Bénéteau Océanis 343 welcomed visitors to the recent launch of SailTime East Anglia’s new Ipswich base at Woolverstone Marina, introducing the concept of fractional sailing to the East Anglia region.
Managed and run by Alastair Norman and his wife Carmen, the base is the first that SailTime has opened on the east coast of England. Both Alastair and Carmen are passionate about sailing and are enjoying helping other sailors to enjoy their hobby.
For many amateur sailors in the UK, the outlay involved in buying and maintaining a boat can be prohibitive. Alastair believes he has found the solution, by becoming a SailTime base owner, “Our aim is to open up sailing on the east coast for those people who love the idea of owning a boat, but are not sure where to start.” Alastair adds, “We can encourage more people to sail, while being able to enjoy our own boat as well. It is a win-win situation and we look forward to welcoming members.”
SailTime East Anglia already looks set for success, after five members signed up to come onboard at London Boat Show earlier this year. The base has initially opened with a brand new Bénéteau Océanis 343, which the seven members will share, each having the opportunity to sail at least seven times a month. But the fun doesn’t stop there, Alastair has big plans for the base, “As well as providing a hassle free sailing experience, we are also going to arrange local events, giving sailing an added social aspect for members.”
“SailTime has already proved to be an attractive way for people to get out and sail on the East Coast. Our first boat is full and we are looking to launch two additional Beneteau yachts during the year for more members to enjoy regular sailing.
“We have been very pleased at the response to the concept of SailTime in East Anglia, the business has generated a lot of interest and we are now looking to accelerate our expansion at Woolverstone Marina.”
