SailTime has announced an agreement to use Coppercoat anti-fouling on its fleet of boats in the UK, France and Netherlands. Supplied through UK-based manufacturer and distributor Aquarius Marine Coatings, this hard wearing and densely filled copper epoxy resin has a proven lifespan of 10 years, and reduces time required out of the water as boats painted with Coppercoat simply need to be lifted and washed once a year to remove any build up of sea slime.
MD of SailTime Europe Jonathan Duffy said the agreement to use Coppercoat would benefit SailTime members as boats would not suffer from a build up of weed or barnacles, and would not require lengthy periods out of the water to be anti-fouled each year. We need to ensure our boats are kept in the best condition over long periods of time, and Coppercoat provides us with that benefit.”
Coppercoat has a combination of high copper content and a unique blend of biocides that ensures an ultra-low growth rate of sea slime. The copper content produces the powerful antifouling agent cuprous oxide, which means that any slime or dirt simply washes away while the boat is in the water. An annual jet wash is all that is required to keep the hull smooth and clean.
“With the SailTime fleet growing year on year with ten bases already set up, it is important that we take a lead in using materials that are considered kinder to the environment, as well as being technically efficient. Coppercoat answers that need.” concludes Jonathan.
