Glass Onion and Calypso choreograph success
Proving that size does not matter, the Southampton Sailing Club mini tonners Glass Onion and Calypso stole the show in race 5 of Southampton water Sailing Associations evening series, finishing first and second in class 1. Revelling in the mid-summer breeze and flat water these highly manoeuvrable pocket rockets showed a clean pair of heels to the heavier displacement Albin Ballad and the Beneteau 285 sailed by Roger Lockett of Hythe Sailing Club and Malcolm Kirk of Southampton Sailing Club respectively.
Down in class 2, Andrew Valentine’s Achilles 9m exhibited improved performance and secured her first series win, finishing more than 6 minutes ahead of Ricky Yardley’s Dufour 1800 on corrected time.
The SWSA cruiser evening Series continues on Wednesday 7th July. For more information, please see www.swsa.org.uk
